Alaska Highway

The Videoprofessionals visit the stunning scenery of the Canadian North-West to bring you this fascinating video on one of the world’s most notorious roads.

The Yanks built the Alaska Highway in 1942 as an Army supply route when they feared the Japanese were about to invade Alaska. Then and now, drivers encounter some of the world’s toughest climatic conditions ranging from temperatures of 50° below zero with freezing rain and snow in winter to treacherous mud and swarms of mosquitos in the summer. The abundant wildlife, including moose and grizzly bears only add to the hazards on this run.

We spend time with the owner operators and drivers who haul fuel, timber and general freight along this treacherous route in even the worst of weather. But we also get off the road to see the trucking operations in the logging and petroleum exploration industries.

There are plenty of big rigs, not only the Peterbuilts and Western Stars you’d expect but also some more exotic transporters like a 300hp Chieftain D LGP crawler.

Take the trip!
